With Famly since

We’ve just raised £14 million.

I can’t lie, we’re proud to have raised the largest investment into early years software in European history. But it only matters to us because it’s a huge vote of confidence for us and for you in the potential of what Famly can do for the early years world. Much more importantly, it’s money we can put right to work to help you give every child the best possible start to life.

We’ll use the money, coming from our new friends at Susquehanna Growth Equity 👋 to bring 100 new people to our Famly family in the next year (this you?).

Our new developers, customer and commercial teammates will be tasked with continuing to build the platform that early education deserves. And we want to go even further, building Famly into a community that makes life less isolating for all the adults involved in a child’s early years.

Here’s how.

How will we spend the money?

It’s been a wild ride at Famly in 2021.

After welcoming 1300 early years settings in a year and becoming the market leader in the UK, we were in pretty good shape.

But we’ve decided to raise this funding because we know we can do so much more. That means more developers and more teams looking after newer features like staffing and payments, as well as strengthening family engagement, and making all your operations and finance tools even smarter.

From 94 people to 200

And we want to deliver faster on features. Famly is currently 94 people working hard to make early childhood valued again - we’ll be more than 200 by the time the clock strikes midnight at the end of next year.

A good early childhood lasts a lifetime. If that is something you can get behind drop us a line about any of the 25+ jobs we currently have open.

Make Famly the early years platform

We also want to work more with amazing partners in early education and family tech. As the biggest software provider in the UK (next up, the world!), we have a responsibility and big ambitions to play nicely with all of the other great tools that our customers use.

We will use this funding to expand that - and if you’ve built a great tool for nurseries, educators, or families, drop me an email.

Introducing the world to Famly

We’re going places.

Since the beginning, you’ve been able to find Famly in classrooms all over Europe and the US (our 18th setting was in San Francisco). Meanwhile, our team has always been headquartered in (very chilly, right now) Copenhagen.

These days, Famly helps families and educators in 12 countries, and have always believed this is part of what makes us strong. From our international position, we see that across borders, early educators face some of the same problems - isolated parent communities, educators drowning in endless admin, and - crucially - a deep lack of respect for just how important early childhood education is.

We want to change that globally, learning from and bringing Famly to lots of new places around the world. Next year, you’ll find a Famly office in Berlin, London, and Washington DC - and of course we're staying right here in Copenhagen too.

We can’t wait to share with you what we find out.

We couldn’t have done it without you

Our first value that new staff learn about at Famly, is that we work for our customers. After all, software without anyone using it is just a fancy screensaver.

So we want to take this opportunity to say thank you - to the 650,000 people who use Famly, you are what makes us great. No company can do without their customers, but we think we’re especially lucky to have dedicated and passionate people like you use Famly every day. You keep us in the know, you keep us inspired, and you make it possible for us to grow. Thank you all that you do for us, and for all of the children whose lives you touch.

Say 👋  to SGE, our new investors

The vast majority of this funding has come from some new friends. We’re excited to welcome Susquehanna Growth Equity (SGE), a growth investor based out of Philadelphia, on board.

We liked them because of their amazing team that we’ll learn from, their belief in our mission to make early childhood valued, and their unique patient approach to investment which keeps us in control. They liked us because of our happy customers, our slick product and because we’ve got some pretty talented people steering the ship (I swear, they really did say that).

It was a pretty good match. Noa Wolfson, partner at SGE, will be joining the Famly board, and we’re excited to have her with us.

If this all sounds like something you can get behind, you can always give Famly a try yourself

We can’t wait to show you all what’s next.

Please note: here at Famly we love sharing creative activities for you to try with the children at your setting, but you know them best. Take the time to consider adaptions you might need to make so these activities are accessible and developmentally appropriate for the children you work with. Just as you ordinarily would, conduct risk assessments for your children and your setting before undertaking new activities, and ensure you and your staff are following your own health and safety guidelines.
